Friend is co-author of the two best-selling franchise books – “The Complete Canadian Franchise Guide” (hard cover), and “So You Want to Buy a Franchise”. His most recent book “Be Your Own Boss – The Ultimate Guide to Buying a Business or Franchise in Canada” was released in the summer of 2003. McGraw- Hill/Ryerson published all three books.
He also wrote the text for the Canadian Franchise Association's publication “Investigate Before You Invest”.

He has been interviewed extensively by the media (including the Vancouver Sun, Province, Globe and Mail, Financial Post, CKNW and Canada AM) and has been featured as part of Raymond Aaron’s Wealth Creator Program.
He is an accomplished professional public speaker having presented numerous seminars and keynote talks to business organizations, universities, colleges, professional associations and financial institutions throughout North America.
Norm is a Past President of the Canadian Home Builders Association for British Columbia and received the national award for "Outstanding Contribution to the Residential Construction Industry". He also received the Century 21 “Achievement in Management Award”.
